David: Classics with a twist

12/17/2018

My name is David Massarano. I'm 24 years old and I was born and currently live in México City, Mexico.

I am an Architect and Interior Designer and I also have a degree in fashion history. Because of my profession, I really need to think of how to build my wardrobe that would fit meetings, daily activities, and even night events sometimes by just changing accessories or one piece of the outfit to go from the office to a bar or an art exhibition. I also try to stay fit and live a healthy lifestyle by going to functional exercise 5 times a week and eating healthy, so sportswear plays an important role in my daily choice.

I'm 1.75 m tall (5ft 7'') wearing size S (40 in European standards) for shirts and pants. For daily and night outfits, I usually prefer to mix brands starting from basic brands like Zara, H&M or Massimo Dutti to more elegant brands like Giorgio Armani, Ralph Lauren, Prada. All of them together create my own style.

I define my style as ' Classics with a twist' because I add unique items that express who I am. While my basic colors are neutral, such as black, white or gray, I love to give a touch of a color or distinction to my outfit with an accessory or a garment.

The story of my style

Since I was very young, I have had a taste for fashion and style as a way of expressing myself and how I develop myself as a creative person.

But it was until I discover a Gianni Versace quote: "Don't be into trends. Don't make fashion own you, but you decide what you are, what you want to express by the way you dress and the way you live" when I really wanted to create my own style. This led me to my diploma studies in the fashion history. Mixed with my profession as an architect it resulted in the style that I have today.

Although I think I already defined my personal style I always like to learn new things from designers, magazines and people with unique styles all over the world.

My favorite wardrobe pieces are blazers and some basics like white shirts, or vintage pieces that I find in different parts of the world, for example, a coat I brought in Florence.

10 wardrobe pieces that characterize my style:

  • Black Blazer
  • White buttoned shirt
  • Skinny jeans
  • Classic black or grey pants
  • White Converse
  • Tiffany´s key necklace
  • Scarfs and hats as accessories
  • Elegant coat for the winter
  • Black suit for events
  • Sportswear for the gym
