Ryan: Letting my outfit do the talking for me

11/26/2018

Hey guys, it's Ryan Morrissey here.

I'm 24, I'm Irish and I'm currently living on Toronto, Canada. However, I'm moving back to Ireland temporarily, ahead of another big move in early 2019 to Brisbane, Australia.

Travelling is something that is very important to me and this will be the third country that I have lived in outside of Ireland, having previously lived in London, UK, and having spent the best part of the last 2 years in Toronto.

I work in software sales as an Account Manager and have done since leaving University. I am a creative person at heart and that's why I have become so passionate about menswear and I see my long term career being built around that.

I'm a pretty average size so at 5ft 10", I generally wear a size S for shirts, t shirts, jumpers, coats etc. and usually go for 30 x 30 for pants/jeans. In terms of brands that I wear, I am less interested in the brand name itself and far more concerned with getting an item of clothing that fits me really well, is good quality and adds something to my wardrobe, at the right price of course. A lot of my purchases come from Zara, Gap, American Eagle, Massimo Dutti, River island, ASOS etc.

My style is basic, simple and versatile, with a strong emphasis on always having the right fit. I like the idea of wearing an outfit that give you the ability to change just 1 or 2 pieces and have an entirely different look.

The story of my style

So I have always had an interest in dressing well, but I really only started to think more seriously about my style since moving to Toronto 2 years ago. The abundance of creativity in this city gave me the kick I need to start carving out my own personal style. If I'm being honest, I think your own personal style is not something that's ever completed, or 100% defined - I consider it more of a work in progress and something that you can constantly tweak and improve. I also like the idea of letting my outfit do the talking for me!

My favorite wardrobe pieces have to be my white converse trainers, check pants, plain white tee and my burgundy overcoat.

10 wardrobe pieces that characterize my style:

  • Simple white trainers (Converse, Stan Smiths etc)
  • Tailored trousers
  • Dark Wash Skinny jeans
  • Michael Kors watch
  • Bracelets
  • Plain white round neck tee
  • Oxford shirt
  • Overcoat
  • Tassel loafers
  • Plain hoody

Best stylish regards,
